Things I Love… And Other Observations.

I love New York City. There’s just nowhere else on earth like it. The energy. The fast pace. The millions of interesting, unique people. I love it. It really is one of my happy places. It’s where I go for inspiration.

So, you can imagine my excitement when a girlfriend of mine suggested we take a spur of the moment, whirlwind, weekend trip to NYC!

(In hindsight, we probably could have picked a more attractive background to pose in front of…)

My friend had only been to the Big Apple one other time, so there was a lot of ground to cover. I wanted to pack it all in. Luckily, I have another friend who lives in Manhattan, and we stayed with her. This is the view from her balcony.

I know, right? I can’t imagine seeing this view every night before I go to bed…

(No filter. See what I mean? Prettiest view ever.)

There is just something about New York City at night, isn’t there? It feels like anything is possible. Seeing New York this way also reminds me that the world is so much bigger than my day-to-day. Sometimes I lose sight of that. That kind of clarity is important. It gives us the freedom to let go of the unimportant stress. It reminds me that it’s important to give ourselves a little bit of grace.

Sorry to get all philosophical, y’all… Sigh.

Since we’ve tackled what I love. Let’s talk about what I don’t.

80s fashion.

And let me tell ya… It is back with a vengeance!

Every store in the Big Apple was channeling it. From shoulder pads, to neon, even the unflattering sequin dresses…. It’s all coming back.

There is no escape.

Am I just old and out of touch? Are you embracing the 80s throwback where you live? Leave a comment and let me know… Because where fashion leads, interior design is sure to soon follow!

Progressive?

Or regressive?

Ponder that. ;)

Xoxo,

Rachel
